Luciana was born at home in Rome with her grandparents. Luciana's dad was Manlio Paoluzzi an Italian Army officer, and her maternal grandmother was Maria Rota Paoluzzi who was at one time Benito Mussolini's mistresses. Her siblings are unknown. She attended a local high school, and after matriculating in 1955 she studied naval engineering at the Scientific Academy of Milan - Luciana was the sole female in her class. After two years she started modeling but that all changed when she got her first role in acting in a chance encounter while visiting her father's best acquaintance in Rome her first role was a short two-line role in Three Coins in the Fountain and that's when it all began.
