Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco is an American-Canadian singer-songwriter. She has more than twenty albums. The songs of DiFranco are classified as alternative and folk. They also incorporate elements of hip-hop, jazz and punk. Ani Difranco has been deemed to be a feminist hero as well as a Grammy award winner. In the beginning, as one of the early female musicians in the 90s, she founded her own label. DiFranco was a born on the 23rd of September, 1970, in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Dante Americo DiFranco. Her father is Italian heritage, while her mother hails from Montreal. Ani Difrasco composed and recorded the song "32 Flavors". This song appeared on her album Not a Pretty Girl which was released in the year 1995. The track was included in the soundtrack for the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. In 2013, DiFranco apologized after it was discovered that she planned to host a three-day workshop on an old Louisiana plantation for slaves. The workshop was cancelled, yet she refused to express regret. DiFranco released a new apology a few days later. While she's been referred to for her role as the Little Folksinger her songs have embraced a variety of kinds of genres and collaborates across the spectrum from Pete Seeger to Chuck D to Prince.
